Very interesting idea. I could easily see something like this working if the Gulf States are onboard with financing the rebuild etc. Some short term achievements could lead to good faith negotiations with the PA leading to a conclusive---not sure what to call it. Treaty? Settlement? Anyway, if everyone is OK with a long term process to build trust rather than the usual bandaids, I could actually get optimistic.

Unfortunately, there is no historical basis to think that the Israelis, Palestinians, or the rest of the world have either the interest or ability to consider an actual long term solution.

Will Steve Witkoff be able muck it all up now? The Trump admin isn't exactly plotting steady courses through foreign policy.

As grim as all this is, this solution has humanitarian qualities for whatever normals live or endure there. So much more thoughtful than the cries in other places to eliminate an entire population via forced relocation or death.

A small leak will eventually drain even an Olympic size swimming pool. Keep moving them out slowly but surely.

The welfare state must end. Those remaining must invest in the rebuild. Bullets or bread? Houses or tunnels? Do not allow the world to fund both options.

Things that are given to us hold less value than the things we earn with sweat and effort.

I dunno. Hamas enjoyed widespread support among the Gazans for years, or at least appeared to. Are they now willing to abandon Hamas because Hamas is evil, or just because Hamas lost? Israel will need to take control of education and culture in the Strip, and make sure the Gazan children are not raised like previous generations have been. That's going to be a tough job, and the results won't be apparent for years.

I read that the EU has decided to withhold money for Unrwa until their school books are free of all that hate, but I haven't seen it verified?

I look at this and I just can't help but wonder, how much does a person have to be brainwashed with hate to have sacrificed all this....for what? For a few dead Jews? Do these people have any common sense? Any desire for something better? I hope this plan will come true

There should be two choices for Gazans to make. Either give up their refugee status and mindset (and help rebuild Gaza as a PEACEFUL community) or move on to other countries willing to accept them.

A permanent prison, essentially, and if they manage to pull it off, better than anything else I could come up with.

Short of that, the end game for Gaza is genocide. Either they finally convince Israel to do it (if 10/7 didn't accomplish it, that seems unlikely for at least a few more decades), which the world will condemn vociferously, or they *somehow* succeed in their publicly proclaimed desire to commit genocide against the Jews (which world might condemn a smidge, maybe), after which, the rest of the Arabs will commit genocide against them, which the world will ignore.

But hey, Israel is trying for the mythical third way. I wish them all the luck and blessing in the world!
